  • 08/08/2011 — SSE Kicks Off United Way Campaign

    As part of our commitment to giving back to the community, SSE has agreed to run a Pacesetter campaign for United Way.  Our campaign officially kicked off Monday August 1st and our campaign is run earlier than the National United Way Campaign (Regular United Way campaigns kick off on September 1st.) 

    This year our goal is a 5% increase over last years combined total for a contribution amount for 2012 of $3,895.58.

    Donations make a difference for so many:

    1)      People at risk of homelessness and hunger

    2)      People who need legal aid or in financial distress

    3)      People with educational disadvantages

    4)      Children and Youths who need developmental opportunities

    5)      People with physical disabilities

    6)      People who are chronically or terminally ill

    7)      People who have mental illness

    8)      Families and individuals who have experienced violence and abuse

    9)      People who are disaster victims

    A Gift of $10.85 per pay ($260.00 per year) can provide:  1)  52 weeks of meals for a resident in a group home; 2) Training for the Red Cross Disaster Volunteers; 3)  Bus passes for 437 individuals to medical appointments;  4)  A patient with a hospital bed at the Hospice of the Western Reserve for three months

    As a leading recruiting and staffing provider, SSE has made a corporate commitment to minimize its carbon footprint by adopting a paperless organization system and promote the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

    SSE Goes Paperless

    Our workday at SSE is designed around an electronic data system, reducing our dependence on wasteful paper-trail procedures.  All job orders and postings are handled electronically providing an easier and faster process for clients and job seekers.  We have also developed an electronic talent database that puts all available talent at a recruiter’s fingertips in an instant reducing the need for printed files. 

    SSE has also eliminated the need for paper timesheets with SSE TimeConnect.  This electronic technology allows time approval without the reliance on paper timecards and helps speed up the approval process for clients and employees.

    Our Think, Then Print initiative not only saves paper, but also reduces the need for physical storage and simplifies document searching. 

    SSE Employee Green Program

    SSE has also established a corporate green program which provides education and awareness to employees on ways to make environmentally friendly choices at the office and at home, such as recycling, reducing consumption and reusing materials.

  • 03/15/2008 — SSE's Managed Staffing Service Saves ERC Members Millions on Temporary Staffing

    SSE's Managed Staffing Service StaffMatrix has been saving ERC members millions of dollars on their temporary staffing costs since 2002. For the fifth year in a row a group of 27 ERC members experienced a 20% reduction in their total temporary staffing costs compared to industry averages.

    As an alternative to traditional national contracts and vendor management systems, StaffMatrix in partnership with ERC, has tailored its temporary management system to meet the needs of both large and small ERC member companies. StaffMatrix provides organizations with the ability to control utilization of temporary staffing, improve quality, streamline administration and effectively manage time, and reduce actual expense.

    ERC Member Companies utilized StaffMatrix as a primary way to hire permanent candidates. 295 temporaries (37%) were added to staff in 2007. Other reasons for utilizing temporaries were as follows:

    • Special Projects 158
    • Cover Employee Absence 125
    • Increase in Workload 94
    • Cover During Internal Vacancy 48
    • Medical Leave/FMLA 24
    • Vacation/Holiday Coverage 2
    • Non-specified reason 52

    2007 ERC Member Results:

    • 798 temporaries placed
    • National vendor network of 27 staffing providers
    • 181 different job titles within the staffing categories of Administrative, Accounting/Finance, Light Industrial, Engineering, Supply Chain, Banking, Scientific, IT, Human Resources, Healthcare
    • Turn-over 13.2% (industry average 18-20%)
    • Time-to-Fill varied significantly between companies due to pre-employment requirements (i.e criminal check and drug tests), internal interview requirements, and level of position. Average w/o an interview was 2.3 days against a benchmark of less than 3 days
    • Temporary employee performance ratings 3.91 (scale 1 – 5 with 5 being the highest) against a minimum standard of 3.0
