- 03/15/2008 — SSE's Managed Staffing Service Saves ERC Members Millions on Temporary Staffing
SSE's Managed Staffing Service StaffMatrix has been saving ERC members millions of dollars on their temporary staffing costs since 2002. For the fifth year in a row a group of 27 ERC members experienced a 20% reduction in their total temporary staffing costs compared to industry averages.
As an alternative to traditional national contracts and vendor management systems, StaffMatrix in partnership with ERC, has tailored its temporary management system to meet the needs of both large and small ERC member companies. StaffMatrix provides organizations with the ability to control utilization of temporary staffing, improve quality, streamline administration and effectively manage time, and reduce actual expense.
ERC Member Companies utilized StaffMatrix as a primary way to hire permanent candidates. 295 temporaries (37%) were added to staff in 2007. Other reasons for utilizing temporaries were as follows:- Special Projects 158
- Cover Employee Absence 125
- Increase in Workload 94
- Cover During Internal Vacancy 48
- Medical Leave/FMLA 24
- Vacation/Holiday Coverage 2
- Non-specified reason 52
2007 ERC Member Results:
- 798 temporaries placed
- National vendor network of 27 staffing providers
- 181 different job titles within the staffing categories of Administrative, Accounting/Finance, Light Industrial, Engineering, Supply Chain, Banking, Scientific, IT, Human Resources, Healthcare
- Turn-over 13.2% (industry average 18-20%)
- Time-to-Fill varied significantly between companies due to pre-employment requirements (i.e criminal check and drug tests), internal interview requirements, and level of position. Average w/o an interview was 2.3 days against a benchmark of less than 3 days
- Temporary employee performance ratings 3.91 (scale 1 – 5 with 5 being the highest) against a minimum standard of 3.0
